  • What are the infraction settings?

    How many points does a use have to get before he is temp-banned?

    How long does the temp-ban last?

    Is there a way to edit this?

    I have just spent a few days fathoming this out, and this is it in a nutshell.

    1]
    Set up your usergoups for the infraction system in Usergroups -> Usergroup manager. These are the usergroups I set up:

    Infractions - 1 month ban
    Infractions - 14 day ban
    Infractions - 2 month ban
    Infractions - 4 day ban
    Infractions - 5 day ban
    Infractions - 6 day ban
    Infractions - 7 day ban
    Infractions - Permanent Ban
    Infractions - totting up ban

    Most have 'post' permissions removed, a few others have 'read' removed also. The permanent ban has all permissions removed.

    If you want a group to be in the automatic banned group in the infractions manager then be sure when you set it up in Usergroups manager that Usergroup Options -> This Usergroup is not a 'Banned' Group = No

    Set up the infractions in User infractions -> User infractions manager.

    See the attachment for what I set up

    Issuing the appropriate infraction should then either move a user to a banned group or remove permissions. This is how I have written it into the forum rules:
    Code:
    <p><strong>Penalty system (Infractions).</strong></p>
    <ul>
    <li>Minor issues - 1 point.
    <ul>
    <li>Minor issues are those that are not excessive and not covered by specific penalties.</li>
    <li>The 1 point will have a life span of 1 month. When 3 of these points have been reached a 'totting up' 3 day ban will be implemented. If any of the points expire during the 3 day ban then the ban will cease then. If all 3 points remain at the end of the ban all the points will be removed.</li>
    </ul>
    </li>
    <li>Foul or Obscene language - 4 points.</li>
    <li>Threatening, insulting or abusive - 5 points.</li>
    <li>Sexist comments - 6 points.</li>
    <li>Consistent failure by a commercial organisation to support claims of a product they promote - 7 points.</li>
    <li>Racist comments - 10 points.</li>
    <li>Spam - 20 points.</li>
    </ul>
    <p><strong>Ban levels</strong></p>
    <ul>
    <li>3 points - 3 day 'totting up' ban. Cannot post but can view.</li>
    <li>4 points - 4 day ban. Cannot post but can view.</li>
    <li>5 points - 5 day ban. Cannot post but can view.</li>
    <li>6 points - 6 day ban. Cannot post but can view.</li>
    <li>7 points - 7 day ban. Cannot post but can view.</li>
    <li>8 points - 14 day ban. Cannot post and cannot view.</li>
    <li>9 points - 1 month ban. Cannot post and cannot view.</li>
    <li>10 points - 2 month ban. Cannot post and cannot view.</li>
    <li>20 points - Immediate total ban that does not expire.</li>
    </ul>
    I have not tested this fully yet but in theory it should work. Hope this helps.
