  • How do I import a phpBB database forum in my new vBulletin forum?

    Hello all,

Recently we purchased a licenced version of vBulletin. We used another systeem called phpBB for more than a year and we like to do a change-over to vBullitin. Is it possible to save the database with threads and users of our previous phpBB systeem and import the whole database into the new vBulletin system? If it won't possible we will use a lot of valuable information...

    Thanks and kind regards,
    Gerd V

Download Impex from within the customer section of this site. Read the help files and you should be fine.

        Sorry,

        one more thing....
I do figure the target board (forum and subforums) need to be identical as the source board? Or can the source board be empy as well??

        Kind regards,
        Gerd V

The source board is the forum that you are importing data from and the target is your vB forum. You download Impex from the Members Area.

Please read the online Impex import instructions here:

          http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex

Also please view the 'After the Import' instructions here:

It was a few months ago, and I've only done it once, but I'm sure I did a clean default install of VB, and then run impex. It imported all the forums, members and posts.

Don't worry, it's very user friendly. After all, I managed it!

              Gee,
I've tried it twice now but it ain't simple... Even though the Impex program tells me e.g. al the forum tables have been imported, yet I don't see them on my target vB forum...
Do I need to delete the Impex map first before I see a difference??

              Kind regards,
              Gerd V

                This should solve those issues.

                  Thanks!
                  You guys are great!

-I already found out one can merge the imported_userid with the vBulletin user Id.

-The numer of imported posts and users is correct... But it seems that a large parts of the imported threads is 'hidden' in the forumtables... Is there a way to make these visible again?

                  Kind regards,

widgetinstance 262 (Related Topics) skipped due to lack of content & hide_module_if_empty option.
