attachments aren't showing

we have an issue with the attachments, and I'm not sure how long it's been going on.. All I know is that I need to fix it..

This is a clients site, that had a past ( messy ) coder working on it..

no attachments would show at all, and they where stored in the database.

I've since moved attachments to a file system and have correctly set that all up..

now when I upload an attachment to test it will show as



even tho they should show a thumbnail.. ( all settings are set to show thumbnail )

okay, so If I click on the attachment, I get a white page and I just see a path like

http://www.*****.com/attachments/59/...-trash-121.jpg

the attachments folder is above the forums folder, so I'm not sure why it's showing the link..

the path is like

/home/user/attachments

forums are
/home/user/public_html/

it looks like there is a setting off ? but I don't see it. Any help is much appreciated..

Did you check the ddirectory to see if the attachments are there?

yup, I see folders 1,2,3,4,5 and inside those 1,2,3 ect.. and inside them i see files..

but the attachment folder isn't at
.*****.com/attachments/59/78d1161197243-trash-121.jpg

it is on the same level as the public_html

You need to change the attachment directory to the correct directory.

Add this to config.php to enter into debug mode:

Under:
<?php

Add this line:
$config['Misc']['debug'] = 1;

Then to change the attachment directory:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Version Info and Other Untouchables -> File Attachment Path

Remove or comment out the debug line when you are done.

that folder is set to 777

First, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file.

Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will forceit to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

okay, I uploaded the new files in acsii

and when i disable the plugins, I can see the attachment, but the style loses all color

That sounds like a style issue. Try this. Create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Then change to this style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

I tried to dl the xml, and then added a new style with that xml and no parent, same thing..

where do I get a copy of the default style_xml ?

That's not necessary. You add a new style here:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Add New Style

okay, it still doesn't show unless I disable the plugins

I guess I'll start going through the plugins,,

should I check
