PLZ HELP! Few questions. I really need help though.

I have a vBulletin community with a bunch of different forums. I want all the forums, except for 1, to all work the same as far as settings go and leave them as I have them set. But, there is one forum with three sub-forums only that I want to work differently without affecting the way all the other forums currently work.

Can you tell me how I can do the following to this forum and it's subforums without affecting the other ones in the community? I am sort of still learning, so the more specific and instructional the better.

- Make it so unregistered users can see the threads but not open them.

- Organize the threads a specific way and make it so they don't ever move. In other words, I'd like to organize them a certain way and allow people to comment, but don't want the ones with comments to move to the top.

- I'd like to add an image/banner to this one forum and it's 3 sub-forums.

The thing is that I don't want those changes to apply to any of the other forums on the site/community.

I'd be HUGELY grateful if someone can help me with this.

Use your Forum Manager and edit the Forum Permissions. You can then specify exactly who you want to be able to open a thread, view a thread, and comment on a thread.

I'm not sure if you can specify how the threads are viewed on a per forum basis. I'm sure someone with more experience can assist or confirm if that can be done.

This is not a built-in feature of vBulletin. The choices, added in vBulletin 3.6, are alphabetical (reverse and forward), and chronological (reverse and forward). You could add a 01, 02, 03 in front of each thread to sort it the way you want.

Modify the navbar template. Add something like:

Where forum ids 12, 14, 17, and 21 are the forums you want the banner to display and you have uploaded a banner image to the location mentioned.

The thing is that I don't want those changes to apply to any of the other forums on the site/community.

RE: Permissions -
On the permissions, I realized that I had to change, "Can View Other's Threads" to yes, but then "Can View Thread Content" to NO for that particular forum. That worked. I logged out and checked it.

RE: Ordering the Threads -
Thanks. I can't do it alphabetically and can't add "01, 02, 03 etc" to it, so I guess I'm out of luck on that one. Is it not possible to move a thread though up and down within a forum? Say you want it from the top to the middle or bottom, not possible to shift it's position?

Short of altering the time/date of each thread in the database, which is messy stuff, no. Alphabetical is my suggestion.

AdminCP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> (pull down the Edit Templates item from the popup menu to the right of the style you want to edit) -> Navigation Templates -> navbar

That's the whole idea. My IMG SRC tag displays an image. You must change this IMG SRC tag to match the file and folder the banner ad will be in.

Similar code to what I pasted before.

<if condition="$forumid == 27"> means display in forum 27.
<if condition="$forumid == 21 or $forumid == 33"> means display in forum 21 or 33.
<if condition="in_array($forumid, array (8, 12, 15, 19))"> is a shorter way of doing several forums. In this case, forums 8, 12, 15, and 19.

I'm in the Style Manager Edit Template dropdown. I don't see "Navbar Templates", just "Navigation/Breadcrumb Templates". Is that it?

Ideally I'd like to add the image in place of my banner, which item from that dropdown would I select to insert that code.

For the subforums, I just do the same thing, but use the forum number for the sub's, right?

OR, what would I have to do to keep that banner, but add another image below it?

Navigation/Breadcrumb is correct.

I cannot offer full detailed support of which template does what.

Adding an additional image is a matter of adding more HTML code. Replacing an image is a matter of replacing the image tag with what you want.

You have full HTML control over vBulletin.
