  • Forum Subscription Question

I have a structure like this...

    MAIN CAT1 (Closed for posting)
--SUB MAIN CAT1 (closed for posting)
    ----CAT1
    ----CAT2
    ----CAT3 etc.
--SUB MAIN CAT2 (closed for posting)
    ----CAT1
    ----CAT2
    ----CAT3 etc.

I want ppl to be able to subscribe to the SUB MAIN CAT's, so they can get updates for all the sub-forums. (I assume that's how it works, correct me if I am wrong on that.) But when I try to, it says the forum is not accepting new posts, which is correct. I don't want to have to have ppl subscribe to each one individually.
Can someone shed some light on this?

    Thanks,
    D

Forum subscriptions don't apply to children like that. You need to subscribe to each forum.

      even if i do this

      MAIN CAT1 (Closed for posting)
--SUB MAIN CAT1 (open for posting)
      ----CAT1
      ----CAT2
      ----CAT3 etc.
--SUB MAIN CAT2 (open for posting)
      ----CAT1
      ----CAT2
      ----CAT3 etc.

u still won't get updates for the subs?

I just tested this to confirm. I was wrong... a parent forum subscription does include its children as you said.
