Since 3.5.x support for iespell has been available in the vB Message Editor. The announcement is here.

There is also an addon at vBulletin.org

Firefox 2 comes with a spellchecker as well.

I have vbulletin version 3.6.6. How do I turn spell checker on? It seems to be disabled at the moment.

IE users will have IE spell available by default. Firefox 2 users will have Firefox's built in spell checker available by default.

using IE and there is no spell checker icon
My post icons are across the bottom, no controls in upper right corner like I am looking at as I post, no increase/decrease , no switch mode, etc.
No font selection - new install default style

This is because you don't have an editor toolbar enabled. Go to

UserCP > Edit Options > Message Posting Interface > Use Enhanced (WYSIWYG) Editor

that did it, thanks. I also changed the ACP setting for all users to default to the enhanced editor
