automatic user title feature not working

In upgrading from 2.3.4 to 3.6.1, a lot of members lost their user titles. This happened to both custom titles and automatic titles. It's not correcting itself for new members. Should this be reported as a bug?

There is no bug in 3.6.1 that would cause this. Did you update the User Titles and Ranks? Did you revert all templates?

I deleted the old user titles, re-issued them, then used the update user title feature. It did the trick.
