    Admin CP Won't Show Up...

    Hi,

I tried to upgrade from 3.6.0 to 3.6.1 tonight and I couldn't get to the upgrade center because of an error. I finally figured out the error, but when I finished upgrading everything, it forwarded me to admincp/index.php and the only thing it showed on the page was:

    ========*/ ?>

I've looked and looked and I can't seem to find out what is wrong. It won't let me log into the admincp because I can't get past that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Chris Cervantez

Please reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

Next check if your config.php does not contain any unwanted lines or linebreaks.

    Does this fix your problem?

      Still having no luck...

I've reuploaded things multiple times in ASCII format. I've also looked over the config multiple times and have downloaded a new config and reconfigured and I still can't find the problem.

      Any other suggestions?

      Thanks,
      Chris Cervantez

        Another Thing...

The forum is still turned off and when I login and try to click on a topic it gives me this error:

Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
        File: /home/wtfda/public_html/includes/config.php
        Line: 172

Also, I don't see a line 172 in my config. It ends at 171.

        Thanks,
        Chris Cervantez

You probably have a newline or whitespace character after the closing '?>' in your config.php, please remove that.

Also make sure that you don't use an editor that add such characters (for example don't use dreamweaver).

            Still Having Problems...

I've looked and there is no whitespace or anything after the closting ?>. I haven't used Dreamweaver or Frontpage or any programs that would put extra characters at the end.

            Any other suggestions?

I've never had any problems at all upgrading, but this upgrade has been quite a pain.

            Anyways...Thanks for all your help!!

Don't use DW. Use a real text editor. The problem is definitely at the end of your config.php file.

                Using Notepad...

I'm not using Dreamweaver. I've been using Notepad. I cannot find anything in that config.php file that should make that show up.

Is there any other places that would make that show up???

I was having a problem with the upgrade.php page and I ended up deleting the XML folder and uploading that again and it finally would let me upgrade after doing that. After I upgraded, the error showed up.

                Thanks,
                Chris Cervantez

                  Other info??

Is there other information that I could provide that might help you help me fix this problem?

                  Thanks,

The problem is definitely with your config.php file. What are you using to upload it with? You should use a real FTP client.

                      More info...

I've been using Cute FTP Professional 8. Is that a "real" FTP program??

I just noticed that in the functions_databuild.php file it had extra code below where it had the box that says:

                      "Downloaded: 01:03, Thu Sep 21st 2006".

It had another box below that that said:

                      "Downloaded: 00:26, Mon Aug 14th 2006"

I deleted the code below the ?> where it says the Sept 21st date but I still get errors.

                      Any other ideas?

                      Thanks,

                        More info...

On the top of the "New Posts" page it gives me all this:

                        $ - $Revision: 1.101 $ || #################################################################### \*======================================================================*/ ?>=====================*/ ?>

I have no idea where that's coming from...

                              Thank You For Your Help!!

I finally got my forum working again. I decided to delete the entire includes folder and reupload everything. That got rid of the errors on the forum pages but the admincp still wasn't working...so I deleted that folder and reuploaded everything.

                              Everything is working excellent again!

Thank you very much Marco and Steve for all your help!! I really appreciate it!

                              Have a nice day,
