Always backup: http://www.vbulletin.com/go/backup - I prefer through shell.

If your site has cPanel the easiest is to use the backup in its menu.

www.yoursite.com/public_html is not a valid path, you need to use a server path which would be more like /home/yourcpanellogin/

You may need to adjust the CHMOD attributes of the folder you are trying to write to..
              It's gooses, not geese.
At least that's how it should be...

If you are running the backup command you can omit a path

mysqldump --opt -Q -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD DATABASE > file.sql

tried that in telenet, invalid command.
Isnt there an easy way to back up your info, this seems very VERY complicated. I did do it from the top, but im not sure if thats enough to protect me.
Cant someone tell me the way to do it

SSH/Telnet is the easiest way, if you are getting an invalid command that means you may not have access to the mysql libraries on your webhost.

well, with the backup on the program, the all file list and then click go bit,
will that be enough to restore, does that have all my info on it?
Sorry its just im new to these and really need to know
