  • After 3.6 Upgrade: Various Problems

    Hi there

After the upgrade to VB 3.6 I am experiencing various problems with the board. These are the ones that are the most prominent:
    • Under “Thread Tools” the “Move Thread” is missing. The radio button is still there, but the text is gone.
    • The Multi-Quote button appears when enabled, but it does not work at all.
    • The “Quick reply to this message” button appears, but it does not function.
    • When some users want to post a new thread/reply they get the message “This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between posts” without having posted in the last 30 seconds.

Is it possible to ‘re-install’ 3.6 or try to fix the problems?

Here is my board address: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Regards,

    RPM

To troubleshoot this, remove any hacks and disable your plugins, then see if you still have this problem.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

If so, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

Next, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

      Hi

      Thanks for the feedback.

I am not using any plug-ins and am using the default style.

When I upload the new VB files, I assume I should keep the current config.php? Any action required after I have uploaded the files?

      Regards,

      RPM

You have to run the upgrade script before anything works.

I recommend you back up your database.

          Hi SiriusBlack

I changed my templates and all seems fine now.

          Thanks for the help.

Could you please be more specific about your templates? I am having this same issue with the "Move Thread" text disappearing. What exactly did you do to fix this? Thanks.

You need to revert the changes to your templates. Styles and Templates > Find Updated Templates > Revert SHOWTHREAD
