    This is a server issue. PHP is not correctly installed with MySQL support. You need to contact your host about this.

      My host swears that PHP is correctly configured with MySQL support. They are now giving me the run around....

      I have no idea what to do.

        Then ask them to explain why you are gettingt this error:

        mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

        That is not a vB issue, it's a server one.

          I stressed to them that it was a server issue. I know it is a server issue as well, because no one has changed any of my vB settings.

          They keep telling me to check my connection strings. And that they were able to generate a PHP script to connect to my database. I will contact them again and see what they say this time.

            Ask them which versions of PHP and MySQL they are running.

            Also you have a phpinfo.php file? If not create a text file with this content:
            PHP Code:
            <?php
            phpinfo
            ();
            ?>
            Name it 'phpinfo.php' then upload it to your forum directory and post the URL here. This will help us troubleshoot the problem.

                Perhaps it's the client version they are using in PHP:

                Client API version: 3.23.49

                They should update this.

                      They are now telling me that I need to specify an adodb driver and that I need to change my connection string.

                      Code:
                      $connect = new COM('ADODB.Connection');
                      $connect->Open("DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}; SERVER=$mysqlServer;DATABASE=$mysqlName;UID=$mysqlName;PWD=$mysqlPass;");
                      I need to figure out where to make that change.

                        Never heard of that before. Sounds pretty fishy to me.

                            This is still a server issue. I suggest you ask your host to fix this. There is nothing we can do from the vB end to fix this.

                              What file would I need to modify to make the change to my Connection String?
