  • Ho do i: make a new postcode field searchable

    Hi

I am hoping someone can help

I am developing Recycle.co.uk and would like it when people register they have to input there postcode, then when another members goes to search they can search members by postcode and then it will bring up all the people with that postcode in.

Also would it be possible to search posts by postcode.

ive tried vb.org but no one answers

    please help

    Hello Paul,

You can do most of this by using a user profile field. These can be set to be required and searchable on the members list.

The only thing that won't work is searching for posts by postcode.

As I said, you can only search users by postcode, not posts.

You need to search in the advanced members search, which is at this URL: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/memberlist.php?do=search

                    Then this won't work.
Instead of fully disabling the members list, why don't you simply disable it for guests, or for users with less than 5 posts (using a usergroup promotion).
