  • How to send mass email to registered users?

I would like to know how to send mass email to only the registered users group.
Will be thankful for the help.

AdminCP -> Users -> Send Email to Users

Enter you message then tick 'Registered Users' only under the Primary Usergroup in the 'Search Criteria'

I tested it but I as the admin don't receive any so I am thinking that I am doing something wrong. Or is the admin the only one not receiving the emails?

If Im correct: I don't have to specify SMTP details, this is optional...?

      ETA:
Never mind .. I sent it out as test email instead of actually sending it

Dpes your account have 'allow emails from Admins' set to 'Yes' or 'No'?

If yes, then make sure you have a valid webmaster's email address in your Admin CP settings and that there is only one address. Then try this:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Email Options -> Enable "-f" Parameter -> Yes

Then try the vB email functions.

If it still doesn't work, then this is either a server and/or mailbox issue. By default vB uses PHP's mail() function for all its email and uses the SMTP server specified in php.ini. If PHP and the mail server are configured correctly then email will work. You can view the details here: http://us3.php.net/mail/

To troubleshoot any email problems you will need to view the mail logs on the server to see what happened to those emails that don't work. Once vB sends it to PHP it's in the hands of the server. If you are on a shared server you may need to ask your host to look through the logs for you.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many ISPs and mail clients are putting in very aggressive spam filters. For instance, AOL will not accept emails from domains that do not have reverse DNS setup. It's possible these emails are being placed into a spam folder or are being filtered.

Alternately you can switch to the SMTP mail option to see if this works better for you. These settings are here:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Email Options -> SMTP Email -> Yes

Then fill out the appropriate SMTP settings for your account and server.

thanks for the help. But the problem is the emails sent by our forum are landing in the junk & bulk boxes; any solution to get them into inbox ?

Are they all landing in the junk/bulk boxes? or just a few...

It could depend on the type of email address you use as sender
It could be that some of your members haven't accepted the domain, which results in mails placed in bulk/unk boxes

usually most of them lie in the junk boxes. We are not using our server email address to send emails but we are using gmail's.

That could be part of the problem. Some ISPs will block emails addresses from domain they aren't sent from.
