Cant access Admin Panel

Heya, well I just got the forums site set up and whenever I try to type in the url of the admin panel, It always goes to a blank page saying "Page Cannot be Found."

I switched the admin page name in the config file, but im typing in the correct url.

Any clue why this is happening? Thanks!

Can you access it via the 'Admin' link on your forum home page?

Nope, But the forums are loading correctly to the specified url.


Also, after I uploaded the site, at the front page, It said something about a database issue at first. I thought this was just because I hadnt ran the install yet, and once I did that and the database had vbulletin files in it, the forums displayed correctly. Could this be linked to why my admin panel wont show? I uploaded and deleted and then reuploaded and am getting the same problem.

I was supposed to get that cannot find database before running the install.php steps 1-13, correct?

The info you are providing is a bit confusing. Please state exactly what you have done and provide any errors you got.

Sorry about that-- Was tying quickly and not thinking =).


-Ok, I uploaded everything via Filezilla, and changed the config.php as needed.

-When I went to my site via the web to test it out, the main page gave a database error message.

- I reread the instructions, and noticed that I didnt go to the www.<random site>.com/install/install.php (install) site first.

-After the install with the database structure files being updated, the database error message didnt display anymore, and the forums could be seen.

-Now, whenever I try to go to my admincp panel (which I changed from the default in the config.php) It shows: Page cannot be found.

HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Internal Server errors are generally related to either a server problem, or added code to the vB files and/or templates.

The first thing I recommend is that you reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

If you still have this problem after that, then you need to contact your host and ask them to investigate.

--Ahhhh Im an idiot. I forgot to change the admincp folder name!! Thanks for the quick replies!!! They helped jog my memory.

One last question:
In order to make a portal, would I need to purchase vBadvanced?
