  • What should I do when moving to new domain and server?

I have to move my board from one web hosting to another. The problem is my old web hosting service does not release my domain, so I have to get a new one. In this case, what should I do to keep the integrity of my board? I.e. many posts are refered to www.my_old_domain.com, and I wanted to update all of those links to www.my_new_domain.com.

Is there any quick and simple way to do it? Sorry if this has been asked, I have tried but could not find any.

There is no way from within vB to mass update all links in posts. There may be a way to do this with mod_rewrite but I don't know for sure.

      Thanks for the quick reponse!

If there is no "standard" method, is it possible to have some SQL script to automatically change the domain in posts?

Yes, it's possible to write a custom script to do this. Since this requires custom coding, try asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org.

There is just use Styles & Templates > Replacement Variable Filter and filter the old URL to the new one.
