Thread notification hooks

I am trying to figure out where/what the hooks are that check if you are subscribed to a thread and whether or not to send an email/PM if you are. FOr the immediate alerts, not weekly daily etc. Not having any luck. Anyone help?

Took a while, but finally found it.
All these hooks should be documented somewhere.
