  • Simple backup and restore solution please

I currently have an automated backup in cron which I setup using my hosts admin utility

I've installed MySQL on my XP PC and attempted to restore it, without any success. It gets to about 150k, says successful, but the database is blank.

I've done a search on here for backup methods and to be brutefully honest, there's too many choices and how to's, which is all to confusing. (unless there's a simple readme i've missed)

Surely there's a simple way, I use SQL all day and it's a simple task to backup and restore.

If some could explain how I can perform this process using my hosts PHPadmin or another simple utility, as I'm not interested in all the fandangled processes.

I've used PHPadmin to back up the database, which seemed to restore ok to my XP install of Mysql. Now all I need to do is setup and install PHP with IIS, copy the forum files locally.
