try using the mysqldump --opt -hservername -uusername -p db name < /path/to/backup function from your old server.

What MySQL version is your old and your new server running?

What are the exact commands you've used to backup&restore?

    Moving Servers

I am moving to my new dedicated server. I've uploaded the SQL file to my FTP and when running the restore command using SSH I get the following error

ERROR 1064 at line 2. You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL Server Version for the right syntax to use near 'DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1" at line 6.

    Help please!
