  • How to search for a string?

This is a question that I get asked all of the time.

If a user wants to search for the string "blue widgets", how is this done?

If you place "Blue widgets" in the search box, it seems to return any occurance for the word blue. How are you able to search for an exact match of this string?

Use the boolean search option and search for:

    Code:
    "blue widgets"

Sorry, the boolean feature does not work in this example. In this example, it is pulling posts that contain the word "blue", "widgets" or "blue widgets" . I would like it to find posts that only contain the string "blue widgets".

The boolean option lets you search for strings by enclosing them in quotes as I have done.

widgetinstance 262 (Related Topics) skipped due to lack of content & hide_module_if_empty option.
        Working...
