    That's a tcp connection error, are you sure mysql is running on the local server, and allowing tcp connections.
    Baby, I was born this way

      I had 3.0.5. runnin previously..basically all I did was erase all the files in the forum directory and did a fresh install of the vb...just the newest version....so the forums were workin previously..just a diff version.

        I had exactly this problem. I had forgotten that at my hosting company has a different value than most for the mysql server, using "mysql" rather than the usual "localhost". This is in config.php.

        $config['MasterServer']['servername'] = 'mysql';

        I had changed this when I installed 3.0.7 but forgot to do the same for 3.5.1
