    After import from phpBB2

    Hi,

A few questions after importing data from phpBB2. So I thought putting them all here in the same message is better.

    1) Because we don't have a Saved PM box default in vBulletin, none of the messsages in this folder were transferred over. Is there a way to do this after the fact? The vBulletin board has been running a bit and there has been new PM sent and received on the vBulletin board.

    2) I did a smilies import and copied all the phpBB2 smilies into vBulletin's smilie directory. But each time you view the message, the smilies will rotate. And each time you post a message, the list of smilies shown on the right of the message window will also rotate. What may be the cause of this?

    3) The search function has been working no problem but if someone types in the query "tank" it'll generate a blank page. Is this a bug?

    4) Is it possible to allow members to put images in their signatures? If so, how can this be done?

    Thanks.

As far as I know, no. Others probably know more, though I'm doubtful it could be done.

You'll need to change the display order. As it is, they would all be set to display order of 1. This means no order at all. Edit the smilies to the display order you want, and save it, this'll stop the rotation.

Try emptying and rebuilding your search index in the maitenence tab. You should already know where this is, as you'll have had to run almost all of the scripts in it already. If not, get to it! (it's at the bottom in case you do need to know, the "Update Counters" link is the one you want)

    4) Is it possible to allow members to put images in their signatures? If so, how can this be done?
You'll need to enable it. vBulletin Options > User Profile Options > Allow vB Code in signatures (Yes)

I'm still fairly green with vBulletin though, so there may be better solutions than mine.

Thanks for pointing to the direction. There is actually a "Allow [IMG] Code in Signatures" area to select Yes.

Um... Is there another way to do this? Because I have over 70 imported smilies. Also, should each smily have a specific name? The problem is that the smilies in posted messages also rotate, not just when they appear to be selected.

Nope. The only way is to reorder your smilies.

          Hi,

Try emptying and rebuilding your search index in the maitenence tab.
Just did that (though didn't empty the index before rebuilding) and it still gives me a blank page. What difference does emptying and not emptying have?

          Thanks.

              Hello,

Sorry but I installed vbPortal 3.5.x. Also, what difference does emptying and not emptying index have if search is going to be re-built anyway?

              Thanks.

This would cause duplicate entries in your search index, it's not a desireable result, and frankly I'm wondering what circumstances would warrant not emptying the index before rebuilding it.

                  Hello,

In that case, shouldn't the empty index task be built into the re-build? I thought what happens is that the pointers in the search index are pointing to the wrong places and re-building simply update the pointers.

                  Thanks.
