Avatar choices

I don't understand avatars. Where are some places I can find some for use in vBulletin and how do I "install" them so that members may choose one if they wish to place it into their profile?

You can upload avatars in the avatar options in the adminCP.
You can also allow your members to use their own avatars, so you haven't got to search for them yourself.

Any photo can be an avatar. All you do is resize it to whatever size limits you set on your forum (ie: 100 x 100).

Otherwise at other forums if you see one you like if you right click on it you can save it as a pic. Stop by my forum and copy any of them you like. Watch out for copyrighted images though, you don't want any of those.

Are there any sites that we can download an entire avatar 'library' by themes? For example, an outdoor-themed avatar library.

There are tons of sources for that sort of thing - here is one that is geared towards PHPbb http://www.phpbb-design.com/ yet has tons of avatars other graphics that are entirely suitable for avatars on ANY forum software
