Making a forum invisible to only some users?

I want to make a forum invisible to all members outside of a certain usergroup, but when I go to edit the permissions, it only makes it private - it's still visible on the main page no matter the user's status. I've set all permissions save mods, admins, and smods to all no, but it's still visible.

I've made it inactive for now, but I'd like my moderators to be able to see the link on the main page.

In your vbulletion options, select General Settings from the drop down menu. Find Enable Access Masks and set this to YES.

Access Masks are already active, and after deliberately setting my own to Yes and another to No, it was visible to both. (Although the other didn't have permission to browse) They could just see it on the main page
