Additional CSS input areas

Something I've always wanted to ask but keep forgetting: Why are there two input areas for Additional CSS Definitions? I've been putting all my extra styles in the first box, but never the second one. What is it for?

I guess to keep this thread relevant to the forum topic ('How do I' Questions), I should ask... how do I use that second box?

The first one is for vB Team to play with & the second is for you to add into, but you can modifiy the first one like I did in some places.

The second one is for you to add your own WITHOUT modifing the stock, we used to only have one, and rarely do the classes in there change, but they can.

Would putting styles in the first box cause db errors? Last night I was working with the first box, and with the header template. Every time I made a change to an added style in Additional CSS, then made a relevant change in the header template, it threw a db error.

I never made a note of it, sorry. But it's the same as what I reported in October, but was never resolved. At that time it was happening on a different forum - unhacked, no plugins - but I was working with the Additional CSS first box just like last night.
