moderators are banning and deleting posts...

How do I stop my super moderators from banning and deleting posts? I thought this would be in the usergroup or permissions area but I do not see it...

seems like a dumb question heh...but I cannot find it

    Thanks!

AdminCP->Forums & Moderators->Forum Manager->then locate the individual you want to restrict, then find the forum they're moderating and 'Edit' the permissions for that individual.

As far as I know, it is done on an individual basis, not on a usergroup basis. I do hope at some point in the future, these can be set for the entire usergroup and then create something like 'access masks' for the individual.

The other thing is to be able to change the permissions for an individual for 'all' of the forums that person moderates vs. going to each forum separately and changing the same permissions parameter.

    Hope this helps.

Actually you can't restrict Super Mods this way. They will have the same permissions on the forums as Admins. If they can't be trusted to behave, then they shouldn't be Super Mods - or Mods for that matter.

Wait so you cannot prevenet Super Mods or Mods from deleting posts? Why would vbulletin do this?

Just because you trust a moderator to do some things on your forum does not mean you hand them the key to banning and deleting....

        wow

There is a hack on vbulletin.org which lets you edit the super mods permissions like you can with a moderator .

I am curious what you are wanting your Super Moderators to do if not banning users and deleting posts?

I didn't say that. You can limit Mods.

I think this calls for a lawsuit against Jelsoft, for their negligence in giving YOUR Super Moderators such power.

Excuse me, but I doubt vbulletin has a problem with a paying customer having a criticism to add. Back off.

                        Edit their permisssions:

Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Show All Moderators -> Edit

                          Hello.

How come if a member of the 'Registered' usergroup is assigned to a forum via Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Show All Moderators -> Edit

and if granted permission to delete threads/posts & ban members, they can? Shouldn't they belong at least to the moderators usergroup via a secondary group at minimum as a precautionary measure? I actually tried this (e.g. deleting an admin's post) and it worked...

I would think this would also be applicable to those who are members of the 'BANNED' or 'COPPA' usergroup. I don't see anything stopping this.

Couldn't there be a 'WARNING' message after clicking 'SUBMIT' to at least to let the Admin who's had a long day, know that they are attempting to add a 'Registered' member to become a moderator before changing their primary usergroup or at least adding that user as a secondary group member of the moderator's group? They may not have noticed, e.g. that they chose the wrong username...oops!

Is there a case where this is desirable feature?

                          Thanks in advance.

                            hmm good question.

I solved my problem easily. I just added <if condition="$show['admincplink']"></if> around every mention of the hard-delete function. Now only I can see that option

What does the 'hard-delete function' look like, so I can find all instances and do the same?

                              Thanks in advance.
