Now, it depends what you want. If you want to have both threads to show up in the search, you need to duplicate; if one thread is enough, since it contains the same info, you don't have to. New posts to anyone of those two threads will be indexed no matter what. This really is up to you. Better for performance is not to duplicate, obviously, since the search index stays smaller. But if you're not copying your threads on a regular basis and on large scale, this probably can be neglected. Just do what you prefer, really.

Anyway, have you realized that you just revived a five year dead zombie thread? Are you really still on 3.5?
