whenever someone posts a url on my forum the link opens up in the same window.

how can i switch this to open in a new window as it does with bbcode?

(html is turned off)

Are you using the "URL" BB code? That should always open in a new window unless you have modified the software to do otherwise.

when i use the url bbcode it works fine jake, but i mean if someone posts http://www.otherwebsite.com - the resulting hyperlink opens in the same window.

Are they linking using something besides the URL tag or HTML?

no, its just the automatically generated link that appears when you type in a full url.
