Pagenav Popup "Go to page..." Form

I consider myself pretty fluent in XHTML and CSS, but I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't take the code for the "Go to page..." form and insert it into my pagenav template? It displays just fine, but the form doesn't function properly. What am I missing here?

Why are you trying to move that menu?

In the default style that menu is a popup.

Right, but I don't want that to be in a popup. I want that form to appear directly on the page.

The entire thread list and control bars are within a form for inline moderation. Forms do not nest. That is most likely why it isn't working. The form would have to be outside of the existing form.
