how to edit registration emails?

Is there a phrase I need to edit? Basically I want to change the content of the activation and welcome emails sent to users upon registration.

where exactly is that located, cause that is something I'd like to know as well.

Admin CP > Languages & Phrases > Search in Phrases > Search for welcomemail in "Phrase Text and Phrase Variable Name"

this is going to sound dumb but how do you edit them? I entered some text in the translation box and tested it, but never changed a thing.

Did you save the chages?

yes I did but the problem is instead of overwritting the original, it simply creates a duplicate for some reason. See attachment....there is 4 entries now for welcomemail and originally there was 2.

That is what it's supposed to do. The standard phrase is never overwritten.
