  • Floris : Re Show latest threads on a html page.

    Re this http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158895

    I'm trying this out and have followed the instructions, but for some reason the threads are not shown correctly. It still shows the older threads and not the more recentone's.

    Is it possible to have the latest post's shown rather than threads ?

    My html page http://www.zen66311.zen.co.uk/index1.htm

    P.S I've tried altering the Thread Cutoff value in the External Data Provider settings.

    It's behaving as designed. That's how the external data provider works. Displays the latest active threads, I don't think it goes per new post.

      Hoi Floris,

      After our correspondence I now have the following code. There is no RSS in there. The links display but do not open the correct page, because the forum is in another map(www.website.com/forum) as the homepage(www.website.com/index.html). Where do I correct what:

      <!-- show latest active threads -->
      <table cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
      <tbody>
      <tr>
      <td colspan="2">
      <a>Latest Active Threads</a>
      </td>
      </tr>
      </tbody>
      <tbody>
      <tr>

      <td width="100%">

      <div>
      <script type="text/javascript" src="<A href="http://www.website.com/forum/external.php?type=js"></script">http://www.website.com/forum/external.php?type=js"></script>
      <script language="" type="text/javascript">
      <!--
      for (x = 0; x < 10; x++)
      {
      document.writeln("<a href=\"<A href="http://www.website.com/forum/showthread.php?t="+threads[x].threadid+"\">"+threads[x].title+"</a">http://www.website.com/forum/showthread.php?t="+threads[x].threadid+"\">"+threads[x].title+"</a> (Posted By: "+threads[x].poster+")<br />");
      }
      //-->
      </script></div>

      </td>
      </tr>
      </tbody>
      <!-- show latest active threads -->
      I buy 420 forums

        How about being able to show which forum the topic is from? This will help direct the user to specific forums instead of a list of topics which appear to have no home (aka forum).

          document.writeln("<a href=\"<A href="http://www.website.com/forum/showthread.php?t="+threads[x].threadid+"\">"+threads[x].title+"</a">http://www.website.com/forum/showthread.php?t="+threads[x].threadid+"\">"+threads[x].title+"</a> (Posted By: "+threads[x].poster+")<br />");

          That line has to be on one line in order to not wrap and then it will show just fine. If it is in one line in your editor and then you copy/paste it into the template editor from vb and it wraps .. that is ok.

          How to show which forum it comes from? I do not know that, sorry.
