Remove the New Thread Button & Box

Having made a Forum, for a specific Game, I created some Sub-Forums for it.

If it is possible, I would like to remove the New Thread Button and the Box directly below it ( See Attachment ) so as not to create confusion as to where to make a thread / post in the Sub-Forums .. can this be done please ?

By head, I believe the code for the newthread button is in the forumdisplay template.

If you set "Act as Forum" to No for that forum, the New Thread button won't appear.

Yes I did try that, prior to posting, and it does remove the button, but it also puts a ' Forum is closed for posting ' icon up, which makes it look as though the forum is closed

If you change the setting I mentioned, it won't say that it's closed for posting. It will only say that if you change the Forum Is Open setting.

If you set Act As Forum to No, it will look like this:

I had already tried that, and yes it did remove the button, but it wasn't what I wanted really. I think I will leave it as it is now.
