  • Blank Page After email

I could use a bit of help here for anyone that might be able to help.

I'm working on a new forum (3.5) and have been doing quite a bit of template editing. Everything is going fine except that when I try to send email through contact us or email this page I get a blank white page after hitting "submit" with all the variables in the url. They aren't being passed.

I've tried the diagnotic tool and it works and I have another vb 3.5 board on the same server so I know that isn't the issue either.

Basically I've figured out that it has to be in the templates I've modified.

    Question:
Which templates can have an impact on how email would be submitted?

Here are the templates I've edited:
    footer
    Forum Display
    Forum Home
    all the forum bits
    forumjump
    header
    headinclude
    navbar
    postbit
    search_forums
    ShowThread
    threadbit

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I'd assume that you edited the sendtofriend template and somehow changed the values of the hidden input fields.

      Thanks for the reply Colin.
No, the only templates that have been edited are the ones above.

I'm assuming it is the header or footer template but I'm just not seeing where the problem is.

I'm pretty good with html and have run several vb forums. I'm just stumped as to what is causing the info not to pass. I haven't touched any of the files. Only the templates listed above.

The problem is that your form is submitting data in GET and the vBulletin script is looking for POST data, so it doesn't find anything and doesn't know what to do.

You have <form [...] method="Article"> which won't work and defaults to GET. Change that back to <form [..] method="post">.

Very, Very Cool Colin. I really appreciate your help.

It makes sense now. I used a replacement variable to change post to Article. I guess its a bit more global than I needed.

There are some issues with the replacement variables anyway.
If you want to post a singular and plural variable it always defaults to the singular.

IE: thread --> Category and threads --> Categories

will always return Categorys in place of threads on the forum.

Yes, I know the phrase manager works better to stuff like that. Reverting now.

              Thanks again!

                Glad to help.

By the way, you could possibly get around the 'Categorys' problem by adding the replacement for the plural variable first, so that it gets parsed first.

That is what I figured too but it didn't work. I deleted and readded w/ plural first and it defaulted back to singular version first.

I should have known better than change a word like post anyways.
