  • Best Way To Backup Attachments?

Hi we are storing our attachments in a File System which = about 5GB and growing daily, whats the best, quickest way of doing daily backups on this.

Easy to do with database as its only 8MB or so

    Thanks in advance

    You on a linux server?

Either to create a tar.gz file every day (will take up lots of space):
    Code:
    tar zxvf 30-sept-2005-backup.tar.gz attachments/
Or a fancier way is to use rsync to do incremental backups each day (which make very effective useage of disk space by not copying anything which hasn't changed again) Check that out here. This can be to either a local drive or to a remote server over SSH/ftp etc.

Personally I'd backup attachments once a week, since they aren't as important (to me) as keeping a database backup.

      Thanks for reply

were using Plesk Reloaded 7.5.4 for Linux

So take it the incremental backups will work for us as that sounds great.

Looks complicated though i am abit of a noob, will have to see if i understand it
