  • Styles from 3.0.9 to 3.5.0

Sorry if this has been asked... There are just so many posts!

If I upgrade to 3.5.0, will it keep my style (which I had custom designed) from 3.0.9?

    Are there many style modifications?

    Cheers

vB 3.5 has many new features, if your 3.0.9 style works chances are those new features and their options will not for the 3.0 templates are missing the 3.5 code.

So what do I do? Do I have to have an entirely new site designed????

If you are using a Style that is more than just customized CSS: Yes.

ITs a yes and no and theres no definitive answer that I can say "Yes this one will work, and No that one won't work"

Thats what test forums are for, chances are you will need to revert the footer, headinclude, showthread, forumdisplay, threadbit and postbit templates, as these all have changes in them related to 3.5's more noticeable features.

How do I set up a test forum? Is there a thread on it?

You need a spare database, its the same as installing the forums, but its a test enviroment.

I didn't think VB would allow me to install two vBulletins... Cool

Thanks Zachery, I will give it a try

Just make sure your test install is not accessible to the public.

Its for testing only it should be in a folder named appropriatly, like dev/testvb/etc and it should also be password protected via an htaccess file for apache or nt_auth for windows IIS.

I upgraded a test board tonight. I have 15 styles, but they are all merely colour changes to the default vB style.

I then reverted ALL the templates.

The only things that stopped working were, obviously, custom alterations to the templates (which I will re-code manually).

                          Everything else is fine.

Should I go through this thread: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156385 and make all the template changes listed under the Q. Will I lose my custom templates? question?

These are the changes I have to make:
And that would make everything work fine.

Let me know if I'm wrong.
