unofficial impex?

I have seen that some forums are running the unstable 3.5.0 and I would like to do the same. How have they gone about transferring all of their members/threads/posts? Is there an unofficial impex that they have used?

Nope, most likely all they did is upgrade their forum from 3.0.X series.

Yes that is exactly what they did, but how did they transfer all their posts etc?
Is there a list of all database changes somewhere or something?

Then run the upgrade.php script. No need to import.

so if you want to test out 3.5 (unstable as of right now), and your using vb 3.0.9, then all you have to do is upgrade and it imports all of the existing threads, forums, posts, users and everything? no impex needed?

I was trying to get impex working and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't show up in the backend - that must be why! haha

just want to verify before i totally frustrate myself for no reason!

however, if i wanted to try 3.5 separate from my working 3.0.9, how would i go about importing my 3.0.9 database and using it as a test forum (if impex doesn't work)?

Upgrading is just that.. Upgrading...


You make a backup of your database, and restore it to a enw database, and preform the upgrade on the test database

ImpEx is only required if you are going from another Bulletin Board sytem to vBuletin. Upgrading from vBulletin to vBulletin is done with the upgrade script provided with the latest version that you download from the Members area.
