Cant install software!!

ok, i just purchased the software, and when i try to do this:
When this is done, point your browser at http://<span style="color:red">www.d...forums/</span>install/install.php (where www.domain.com/forums/ is the URL of your vBulletin) and proceed to click the 'Next Step' buttons until the script asks to fill in some addresses and names for your board.

it doesnt work. I dont get it......help please.

Are you getting a page can not be found?

Try

http://www.yoursite.com/install/install.php

^^ The above will work if you didn't your vbulletin in a directory.

(Also make you switch www.yoursite.com with your domain name.)

Yeah what kind of error do you have? I bet you had to edit the includes/config.php since some people who are new forget to do that.

I don't think that's the case, as he mentioned that he gets an error in the middle of the installation, which is after some database modification has taken place.

i get the page not found error. I dont even get a chance to install the software. I think a friend is going to fix it for me, but if he cant figure it out im still stuck. Thanks guys!!!

Of you are getting a page not found, either A you have the wrong location, or b you are having a dns issue.

If you're having a DNS issue, you can try to install using:
http://forums.ip.adress.here/forums/install.php and it could work, but in that case I would wait until the DNS is known for proper configuration of the server settings and stuff in the admin control panel.

we got it. Thanks a bunch guys!!! Now i just have to remember how to change the colors on the site, and remember how to edit the forums.
