  • Avatar link showing instead of avatar

I have just finished upgrading to VB 3.5 and everything seems to be working properly, however no users avatars are showing. In the place of the avatar is a link with the users name, if you click it, it takes you to their profile, and there the avatar shows correctly.

    Whats going on here?

    Any help is appreciated.

Which version did you upgrade from? Are avatars stored in the db or the file system? What's a URL where this is happening?

      Steve, I was running 3.0.6

Avatars were stored in the DB prior to the upgrade. After the upgrade I experienced the problem I posted about, I have just now moved avatars to the filesystem. The problem still exists.

      See thread... http://www.modularfords.com/forums/s...45&postcount=9

Notice the guys avatar does not display. Perhaps there is a setting that changes this behavior? I cannot find it.

Please wait at least 12 hours before bumping your posts.

That URL is not loading for me:

people are having this problem in my board also. It says (Username)'s Avatar. When we click it, it goes to his profile with the avatar showing. Anyway to fix this?

You upgraded to 3.5 but didn't update your postbit template, revert the template(s) or check the announcement forums.

I still cant find out which templates need to be reverted?
There is noting in the announcement thread either.

can someone tell me how to fix this avatar issue?

Thanks! that shows the avatar, but my changes are gone. So does that mean I cant change these 2 templates in this version?

This means that your changes are the problem. I would suggest comparing the custom templates to the original to see what you are missing.

Just did the update, had this problem as well, avatars stored in the DB, showing up in the profile, not in the posts. Thankfully my 1 hack stayed postbit was modified, but I compared the default code do my modified postbit, changed to the new avatar code (small changes, vars referenced differently now), and now they're back in the posts.

What is happening with the avatars here of late? I see text that bleeds out of their allotted boxes and it looks messy. Is this some kind of protest by the people that held an avatar before?
