  • Change the title of a message?

If i edit any post titles in my forum the MAIN displayed title in the forum doesn`t change, but the one in the thread does.

    Any clues?

    Hi there

Goto the thread tools from the top of the thread and click edit thread, there you can change the subject.

    Good luck.

        Yep Bit confusing, but:

        - Thread title ... edit it with the thread tools > edit thread
        - Post title ... edit it with the edit button in the post.

For the first post, this can be confusing Probably because if you have set the edit time to 5 hours, and edit it within those 5 hours, it updates the thread title or post title too, and if you edit it after, it will only update the post - and not the thread title.

I don't see the "Edit Thread" option unless I'm logged in as admin. The only means I see to change the thread title as a normal user is to edit the first post and even then it has to be within the alloted time limits.

Which brings me to the reason I searched/found this thread... how do I allow thread title changes indefinitely? If I set it to zero it doesn't allow editing indefinitely like it does for adding a poll or editing posts. Setting the thread title time to zero disables the ability altogether. I tried -1 and leaving it blank but that behaves the same as zero. For now I just put in a huge number. How do I allow indefinite editing of thread titles? Is there a reason not to?

There is no way to set this 'indefinitely' For now just set it to a very large number.

It is an admin feature, so that is why a user can't change it after the set timeout for editing posts.
