  • Error while trying to back-up

    Hi,

    Transfer over from Invision 1.2 to VBulletin 2.3.4 went fine, so the next step is the upgrade to VB3 RC3.

    Trying to back up my database using the instructions provided but I am getting the syntax error below;
    SQL-query :

    mysqldump * - opt - uusername - p databasename > databasename.sql

    MySQL said:

    You have an error in your SQL syntax.

    Version of MySQL is 4.0.15 standard. Obviously I have taken out my database details from the example above.My host doesn't support SSH and I can't connect through Telnet, so I am doing this through CPanel.Any help would be hugely appreciated

    If you don't have ssh, how do you run mysqldump?

      Through the SQL query command line in CPanel?

      Am I doing something wrong?

        In order to do a proper backup and restore, you have to have either SSH or Telnet access. If your provider does not support either of the two then its time to get another webhosting company.
