Time problems

Ok,
Not sure what's going here, but here is what I have a problem with: vb3.0.0 RC3 - Upgrade from vb v.2.3.3 to vb3.0.0 RC2 to vb3.0.0 RC3

I have checked the server time, and it is set for East Coast GMT -5.

Server time: Wed Jan 28 16:39:19
In the Admin CP - Time is set respectively to East Coast GMT -5. DST set to No.
As a guest of the forum the time shows:

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:40 AM.

Which it should actually be: 4:39 PM.

When logged in as a registered user, and in the usercp my time is set to GMT -7. DST set to Automatic.

The time shows:

All times are GMT -7. The time now is 01:40 AM.

Which should actually be: 2:39 PM.

Something is obviously wrong here. I am not sure what, but there is obviously some kind of error in the code it seems. I could be wrong, and I'm not trying to offend anyone, but something is obviously wrong with this.

Please advise.

P.S. I also have vbulletin v.2.3.4 running on the same server with the same settings and the time is fine. This only appears to be an issue with vb3.

If you login to the server and request the time, it says the correct time right?

And if you goto the vBulletin options and check the timeoffset there, in 2.x and 3.x they are both set to the same value? (no difference is displayed?)

That is correct.
The server time is indicated in my original post.
The admin cp in both the vb 2.3.4 and vb3.0.0 RC3 are identical.

I thought I covered this fairly well in my original post. Maybe not.

In vb 2.3.4 - setting is: GMT -5
In vb 3.0.0 RC3 - setting is GMT -5

In vb 2.3.4 - times show properly.
In vb 3.0.0 RC3 - times are not showing properly.

Yes you did, but I am easily confused and just wanted to be sure that we didn't miss anything.

I have access to 7 servers running 2.3.4 and 3.0.0 rc3, and they all appear to show correctly. (All have DST set off though)

Since I can't reproduce it, I can't really find out where it might go wrong. I will keep this problem in mind ..

I am still waiting on a solution to this.
I just upgraded to VB3.0.0 RC4 and the issue still exists.

Please someone, anyone, help me with this..

I've had this problem for about 6 months. The guy that administers my site swears it's right on the server. I guess I'm going to open a ticket on it in the morning.

I have complete control of my server, and am able to get the time right from the box itself. I have two different instances of vbulletin running on my server. I have vbulletin 2.3.4 and a vbulletin 3.0.0 RC4.

The configs in vbulletin for the time are identical. The vb 2.3.4 is right on the money, the vb3.0.0 RC4 is totally messed up.

I know this is not a configuration error because I have checked and checked again. I know the server time is correct, there is obviously some kind of issue because I am seeing more and more posts about it.

Here is the date cmd run from my ssh:
Sun Feb 15 02:10:03 EST 2004

The vb3.0.0RC4 is configured with GMT -5 (New York) in the vb options.
Below is the copy and paste of the time displayed in the bottom of vbulletin:
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 01:12 PM.

Now if you was me, those times are pretty well messed up. However, everyone seems to think that it is myself that is messing up here. There is obviously something wrong with the code. Its becoming all too common.

i have the same problem ... i am going to check that mysql is making the changes in the settings table.

because it does not matter what time i change the server time to (in vboptions) its always an hour out

well its changing it in the MYSQL tables so i dont know why the time wont change when using the vbulletin admincp options

hopefully someone can shed some light on this ?

Yeah, my board affected with this bug too... the time shown always 6hrs faster than actual time... and yes, regardless the timezone I set at the AdminCP, the time still 6hrs faster.

I am also having the same problem. It seems as though the time is the same as where my server is based or something. Anyone know how to fix this?

Just a thought. Did any of you have this problem when logged in, and did you check the time offset in the options setting in your User CP to see if it is properly set there?

I have the same problem. Don't know what to do. Crontab always late for 8 hours... frustrating.

I had access to change the time on my actual server and that fixed the problem. I wasnt able to fix it through the time zone offset, could be a bug... But if you guys are on a dedicated server, check your server time.

Same problem. I am in the process of contacting the host to see if they can change the time setting for me on the server side. If that does not work is there any other methods of resolving the time differences? Cheers, mm
