Strange cookie/user id problem?

Hi,

I'm running RC2 and the only hack I have is the integrated PhotoPost 4.6 gallery system. An interesting problem that I've encountered is that I've created a normal user account so that I can check out what's happening with the forum whenever I make changes and see what the average registered user gets to see. When I log back into the forum with my admin account and then try to access a member's profile page or try to do a Private Message I get my OWN profile or account regardless of whatever the user id is in the URL.

I'm not sure whether this is to do with vB, PhotoPost or Internet Explorer (6, the one bundled with XP and has had all MS patches applied).

Has anybody else experienced similiar problems (with or without PhotoPost)?

I've had that problem too and also use Photopost. (not ure if it is a PP connected issue though)

The suggested resolve for it was to delete your cookies and log back in.

It seems to work, but it seems a bit of a daft way to get round it.

Thanks for the confirmation - it confirms that I'm not going mad Might start asking around the PhotoPost forums then, to see if other people there are experiencing similiar issues and/or to see if there is a fix.

Yes, I too had to delete the cookies before things were back to normal. I might try running Mozilla 1.6 to see if that offers any relief.

Well, I can confirm that the problem is not reproducable within Mozilla 1.6 - it works fine logging out as admin, logging in as normal user, logging out and then logging back in admin. I can click a member's profile an it's attributed correctly.

I believe this PhotoPost/cookie issue has been posted many times. Try setting a cookie prefix in config.php if you haven't already:

// Prefix that all vBulletin cookies will have
// For example
$cookieprefix = 'bb';

Mm .. PhotoPost already set to have 'bb' prefix. I'll take it over there and see what they have to say on the subject.

I've had this problem as well. Don't you want the cookie prefix on both vb and photopost to be the same as don't they use the same cookies?

This thing has ****ed me up.
I dont want to close down the forums for such a small error but im afraid i have to.
I cleared my ckiccies. fixed the coccie paths. stuff like that. Nothing helps.

I have photopost (4.6.6) and vb (3 RC4)set to the same cookie prefix and it is forcing me to login to both separatly as well. Have cleared cookies etc etc. No joy

Sorry, we can't really support hacked forums. Have you tried setting different cookie prefixes?

understand you can't really support this, but thanks for coming back to us anyway. I've tried setting cookie prefixes as the same, and as different entities, but with no joy. Have also run various vb3 cookie clearing scripts from this site with no success. Hopefully one of the VB3/photopost members will work it out one day. (I do know of a site where it works fine, but we cannot find a difference between his setup and mine).
