  • Installing 3.0RC with My SQL

    I have PHP(4.3.1-win32) and MySQL(3.23.55-NT) Installed

    When I run install.php I get this error on step 2

    "The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file."

    The user and password in my config.php match mysql.ini. Im sure im missing somthing but I going nuts at this point and im sure its simple.

    Here is my MYsql.ini: (Password omited) (DB name = mysql)

    The username and password in the MySQL.ini file really have nothing to do with this.

    You need to create a user in MySQL and then grant that user permissions to access the database you created for vBulletin. Chapter 5 of the MySQL manual will explain how to do this. In particular you are interested in sections 3 and 4.
