  • $permissions['forumpermissions']

i am really trying to figure out how the premission system goes. now i tracked the $permissions var all the way to "function cache_permissions" in the functions.php file but i still do not understand the information it returns,
for example my root (admin account) returns : 393215
an unregistered user returns : 4103

i have no idea how these resualts were made, for example i know my root (admin) account is a member of group 6 (admins) yet there is no 6 in the experssion.

    any ideas ?
also, is there another way for me to get the users main group without having to go into too much trouble ?

    thanks

The permissions are returned as a bit field. Look in init.php for a definition of all the default bits. Add these up and you get the numbers presented above.
