  • Quick Reply option in UserCP

    I saw a quick reply on/off option in another forum's usercp (running vb3) and I can't figure out how to set that on my forum...

    Little help?

    Edit: Oops wrong forum.. sorry!

    You can enable/disable the quick reply option in the AdminCP in vB3, vBulletin Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options -> Quick Reply Enabled.

    If what you saw was in the userCP it could have been a hack.

        You could probably do this via template conditionals and custom user profile fields... Just create a custom user profile field with the option of yes or no, and in the template displaying the quickreply, add a conditional to check if the user wants the quickreply. There is a thread around here somewhere that shows how to test custom user profile fields that are options (I think in this forum or the suggestions forum), rather than just text fields, in conditionals...

          Just did this, as it's slow as hell, but many of my forum members like it.

          Add a custom user field, with No Yes (No default) options. Make a note of the field No.

          Edit postbit and/or postbit_legacy depending on what you use.
          Find:
          Code:
          $SHOWQUICKREPLY
          After it add:
          Code:
           AND $bbuserinfo[field**] == 'Yes'
          (replace ** with the right number).

          Edit showthread template.
          Find:
          Code:
          $quickreply
          Replace with:
          Code:
          <if condition="$bbuserinfo[field**] == 'Yes'">$quickreply</if>
          (replace ** with the right number).

          Job done.

          Just be sure you let people know, or if you're members are like mine, you might get it in the neck!
