Check your Forum Manager for this setting and remove your email address from it:

Email Addresses to Notify When there is a New Thread

Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

I believe he wants to be emailed when there is a new post, but not when he made it...

Ah, in that case - no. There is no way to stop these emails when you make a post. That would require hacking.

My question is related to this thread, forgive me.

I'm running vb 3.0 RC2 on a test board. When I set it up, I wanted to be notified of a new post in a forum so I added my email to the 'Email Addresses to notify when there is a new thread' part. I do get that email notification everytime there is a new post, that is not the problem. But now I can't shut it off. I go back to that option and there is no address listed. I've checked every forum of mine just in case and in each one there is no address listed in the 'notify' field.

So then I tested it by adding my address in to the blank 'notify' setting in the forum that I am having problems with. I posted a test message and therefore got two copies of the email notification in my email. I went back to the Forum Manager, saw that my address was there (once) and deleted it. I posted a test message again and still got one email notification of a new post.

I also checked my subscribed posts but there was nothing there.

So tell me, how can I remove my email notification for new posts in a forum if my address isn't listed in the field in the Forum Manager?

            Thanks, April

Check both of these settings and remove your email address:

'Email Addresses to notify when there is a new thread'
'Email Addresses to notify when there is a new post'

I did check both of those settings for every forum and topic and there is nothing there to remove.

Is there a 2nd user with the same email address?

Nope, the email addresses for all five testers are different.

I'm not sure what to do about this. I can't fix something if it's not there to fix. Maybe I should submit this as a bug??

I had this one time in vB 2. It turned out the user had two subscriptions associated with the thread.

                          Thanks for the help.

The account using the email address that the notification is going to is not subscribed to anything. I am sure I am getting these emails due to adding that email address to the "Email Addresses to Notify When there is a New Post" when I first created the forum. I get notifications when anyone posts anything in that forum, whether it be a new thread or a new reply. I just created this forum yesterday and have not subscribed to anything else. And yet I cannot take the address out of that notification because there are no email addresses listed to delete. It's not a big deal in this test forum, but I'm worried that something like this may happen when I go to upgrade next week!

Thanks again for the suggestion, though.

VB 3.0.0 RC2: I'm still having problems with this. I am getting email notifications to one of my test forums and I don't know how to stop it. I took out the forum completely, put in a new forum with no email notification set, posted a test message and I got the notification. ?? So, that leads me to believe that I have the category set up to email me notifications of new posts in all of the subforums. I am getting notification emails in each subforum of one category, yet that category nor the forums are set up to send out email notifications (new threads or posts) to any address. The 'notify' boxes are blank and I am not subscribed to anything. I cannot stop these emails.

I can only think that this is a bug. I've never submitted a bug, and don't know how to go about doing it. Anyone else had this problem?

I am having the same problem now. I go to the admin section to remove the email addys and nothing is there. I need to get this fixed ASAP!
