    Should be local host.

    However, when you create database and assign a user to it, CPanel will give you the exact string to use.

      $servername = 'localhost';

      Dont forget your username is infront of the db name on this line
      $dbname = 'Username_databasename';

      Since all the SQL databases are together in the root of the server.

        Thanks Guys!

        I still can't get it to hook. VO mentioned something about using an encrypted password. Any one know what's up with that?

            I'm on VO and just upgraded to 3.0 beta 7 tonight and all is well. Any specific questions just let me know and I'll show you what I have. I have a dedicated box there, not sure if that matters or is any different than what you have.

              Encrypted pass sounds like like BS.
              this is what I use

              // ****** DATABASE SERVER NAME ******
              // This is the hostname or IP address of the database server.
              // It is in the format HOST:PORT. If no PORT is specified, 3306 is used.
              // If you are unsure of what to put here, leave it at the default value.
              $servername = 'localhost';

              // ****** DATABASE USERNAME & PASSWORD ******
              // This is the username and password you use to access MySQL.
              // These must be obtained through your webhost.
              $dbusername = 'accountname_DBusername';
              $dbpassword = 'password';

              // ****** DATABASE NAME ******
              // This is the name of the database where your vBulletin will be located.
              // This must be created by your webhost.
              $dbname = 'accountname_DBName';

              You did go into CPanel - PHPMyadmin and create a mysql database (DBName) and create a mysql user (DBusername) and add that user to the Database .... Right??

              The VO system adds your account name to the username and database name automatically.

                Thanks again,

                It was something (unspecified) on VO's end. It loaded fine now.
