  • What are you Windows guys using for a UNIX text editor?

Step one of the vB 3.0 install instructions that was in my package said, "Open config.php and edit it".

Notepad brings it in as one line.

Is there a freeware or other solution?

Possible suggestion would be to save the config.php as a LF+CR file.

    I really like EditPad Lite.

Its free, and has a tabbed interface allowing for easy management of multiple files.

There are many editors out there with syntax highlighting, but I'm not aware of any free ones... and they're probably not worth it unless you see yourself doing a great deal of this.

Ultra Edit. Commercial software, but not expensive and well worth the cost.

vim -- one editor, all platforms. I'm very lazy.
Cygwin - all the tools to make Windows complete (cvs, vim, diff, grep, gcc, ssh, ...)

              Thanks!

Wordpad works? Damn, I already downloaded EditPad. Editpad works pretty good, and I think I'll buy the pro edition later because it will do hex-editing on large binary files.
