How do I set the date in another language ?

When choosing the date format, I can enter things like that :
j F Y
And it will display (my birthday) :
6 March 1980

But how do I set the date in another language ? Like French ?

Example, I want to display the day today like this :
mardi 9 septembre 2003

vB uses date() to return dates. To get a date in a translated format strftime() is needed as far as I can tell.
