  • VB3 BETA 5 > VB3 BETA 6 Q...

Since so many files have been renamed and removed from BETA 6 as compared to BETA 5, can I just delete all of the BETA 5 folders and files on my server leaving only the mySQL database intact and simply upload all of the new BETA 6 folders and files, edit config.php, and then run upgrade.php?

Is that the best way to go or not? I want to make sure I don't have any files not needed hanging around on my server but I don't want to screw anything up...

Yes, delete everything except your config file (that shouldn't need editing) and upload all the new files. Assuming you have a copy of your site and forum on your hard drive you could alternatively use a web site synchronisation tool like the one included in Dreamweaver.

You've got the idea, as long as your data (the mysql db) is there you can do this without problems.

Just make sure to run the upgrade.php scripts required when you are done (if there are any, I havent upgrade to beta 6 yet).

I deleted everything including the config. I updated the config and re-uploaded it and now I have DB errors. I have the correct information as I used it to login to mysql, but when put into the config file and re-uploaded it appears not to work.

        What do I do now?

Throwing Shapes, please start your own thread and be sure to include all the relevant details, including the precise errors.
