  • new WYSIWYG-Editor is quite slow?

i have a kind of lag while typing since the new WYSIWYG-Editor was integrated. well, im not typing very fast, but maybe to fast for the new editor? if i hurry, i can make about 500 keystrokes a minute, and sometimes whole phrases don't show until i stop or slow down typing...

    i cant imagine my computer is to slow, i have a p4 2ghz, 512 ram, win2k sp4, ie 6.0 sp1

edit: ignore this one... i just reloaded and everything is fine now great work, once again

sorry for my bad english I hope, you understand me anyway

        What browser are you using?

If you are using Mozilla, there will be some slow down on initialization. It isn't using an ActiveX control like Internet Explorer. Instead it uses a version of the Composer component. ON Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1 on the full reply screen it took 1.79 seconds* to download the page and initialize the editor so I could type in it. The quick reply is where there is lag for me... There it takes about 1.5 seconds to initialize the editor after activating QR.

*as stated in my status bar.

That is an absolutely diabolical time... using a test linux system running Redhat 8 + Mozilla 1.4 on a 466Mhz Celeron I get an init time of 0.2 seconds or faster every time...

And on my Pentium III 866Mhz laptop with integrated P.O.S graphics quick-reply initializes in 0.02 seconds under IE 6...

... 0.08 seconds this time, now that Firebird has cached everything.

Same here, especially while using the full editor.

Those times are without caching... I tend not to use it at all for anything. The one for the full reply is how long it took for the entire page to load though. I am sure if I turn pipelining on, it would speed up quite a bit.

Also what version of FireBird are you using? The default download or the GTK2 one? GTK2 might be adding some time to the system but I am not sure.

Would it be feasible to use one toolbar image, instead of some 30+?
It would speed up the load times a fair bit I think...
